Le Nain Violet

Le Nain Violet - Grenache 2012

Yes, you know directly you got in the $30+ range as this wine has some wonderful lavender blackberry fruit with layers of fruit and some minerality and pretty full tannins giving you a nice bite with a long finish. Yes, this is not a $10. Getting to a $32+ price tag makes choicing this wine a bit more difficult, but I would say it does not dissapoint and many people mgiht appreciate this full taste.

Bonterra

Bonterra Cabernet Sauvignon 2014

Very nice wine with pretty intense fruit and a decent length with some depth. Under $15 an impressive deal.

Carmen

Carmen Gran Reserve 2012
Cabernet Sauvignon from Maipo Valley, Chile

Great Cabernet Sauvignon with some nice fruit and a pinch of "French" terroir taste. Nice for every day drinking or very nice with dinner, spicy meat.

At costco for $9.99 that's a steal, ( $15.99 at wine.com)

Neyers Merlot 2013

Neyers - Merlot, Neyer Ranch Conn Valley, Napa.

The first taste shows an "easy" and nice "typical" merlot to my palate. The second swig I let hang in my mouth for a bit and there you get it, a slight complex, full wine hanging in there nice a long and long on the finish. Nice tannins too. I would say worht the money (approx $20).

Puydeval 2010

2010 Domaine Puydeval Vin de Pays d'Oc (Cab Franc Blend)

Nice cab franc blend. Always hard to find (in California). This red wine does not knock of your socks but for around $15 it is a very nice Cabernet Franc. Nice tannins, little earthy, some (balanced) acidity. If you do not care especially for Cabernet Francs,: nice wine. If you have difficulty finding a Cabernet Franc, this wine will not disappoint.

Villa Pillo - Syrah
Costco
2010 Syrah - Tuscany, Italy

Typical Italian Syrah., not overwhelming, nicely balanced but not a big bang. Advanced wine connoisseurs might appreciate this wine, the average wine drinker would appreciate it as "nice" wine. There is no huge finish, just well made, not bad at all at $12.99.

Châteauneuf-du-Pape Kirkland
Costco
2009/ 2010

It might not look that charming, a Châteauneuf-du-Pape with the Kirkland (Costco label), when you serve you rack of lamb to your good friends, and the bottle shows. However it shows you buy good value for the money, and you guest will appreciate this good red wine. For $20at Costco, this is a good price. Some spice, earthy, a typical Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Good buy for $20.
