The Las Vegas of the Middle East, Dubai, worth a visit?

As Dubai is convenient location between Europe and Asia, and top airlines like Emirates make it failry easy for a peleaseant stop, why not?

2722' / 829m Tall, Burj Khalifa, / (also called Burj Dubai)

Camel races, indoor skiing, all the designer brands you can can think of in slightly more relaxing environment than more surrounding countries in that area. Let's see or the wonderful restaurants, bars and shops will impress me?

Shopping - Expect the shopping to be in shopping malls, no cute store in little street or souks. As the weather scream 100F+ most of the year, an airconditioned mall might be not a bad option.

Visiting in February, I can expect 20-27C (68-81F) during the day, so not too alarming.

The Malls in Dubai, UAE

As the highways through Dubai seem pretty efficient, you would be able to go from the airport to the Mall of the Emirates (22km/ 14miles away) under 25 minutes.

The main conclusion is: Expensive food, drinks and hotel pool afternoon, taxis are reasonable priced. Entertaiment is mostly a copy of what you would get somewhere else in the world. I would suggest to plan a long day with exact visits to see the Burj Al Arab, the Burj Khalifa, indoor skiing and get a drink/ bite at one ow two nice places with view. Nikki beach worked out great for me, pretty easy to get to, nice beach, pool and chairs/bed, pretty good vibe.

The main malls are:

The Dubai Mall

Not a large as the West Edmonton Mall in Edmonton Canada, but very large, and what is measure if you chunk malls/ stores and more torgether. Anyway it is mall with a huge a mount of stores and lots of entertainment options.

All high-end designer brands are there, Chloe, Cartier, Etro, Fendi, Givenchy and more. A few less common stores to mention: Gianfranco Ferre, Philip Plein and Zilli for men. Elie Saab, Ermanno Scervino ma and Tara Jamon for women.

Entertainment: The Burj Khalifa is next/ attached to the Dubai Mall. The Burj Khalifa is the tallest building in the world. Over 828 metres (2,716.5 feet) in height and more than 160 stories, Burj Khalifa holds a few records.

You can make it to the 125th floor for AED 130 (USD$36) (4-6pm prime hours are a higher price) , or AED 370 (USD$104) for the 148th floor/ level.

Also indoor skating and several othger options. Dining, all the basics you might expect in a mall.

The Mall of the Emirates

The Mall of the Emirates is located a miles in from the Burj Al Arab Jumeirah.

The Mall of the Emirates has 600+ stores. For women fashion shopping there is Ermanno Screvino, Karen Millen (London) and Kenzo to name a few. Also there is Louis Vuitton, Miu Miu and for men the brand names are Brioni, Ermenegildo Zegna, Facconable, Pal Zileri and Tom Ford.

The Kemsinpski Hotel seems a great option adjecent to the Mall of the emirates.

Entertaiment: Ski Dubai. Hard to find, a place to ski in the region. The indoor Ski place seems fun for a few hours, many positive reviews over the years.
